Whiskey Cool
Hello Friends,
Whiskey is a little over a year-and-a-half old, and this is her fourth appearance in my image-of-the-week emails. I took this shot with my Google Pixel 9 Pro cellphone and converted it info 3D with DepthMaker. If you have an android phone I'd strongly recommend loading the DepthMaker 2D to 3D app as well as 3D Steroid Pro for working two cha-cha shots into 3D. Both of these apps are free and were created by Masuji Suto. If you're on an Apple phone I believe a new app by Masuji will be coming out soon called iPortraitPhotoMaker.
Today was the third iteration of No Kings Day, and I expect that today's protests in every state of the USA and in other countries as well will be the largest in terms of the number of participants. Betsy, Whiskey and I were at the Long Beach protest on Ocean Avenue which stretched a mile along the ocean bluffs from Cherry to Loma. I'm guessing 3000-4000 people were there, but hard to truly estimate. The shot below is me in my "Woke is OK" t-shirt and cap created by my friend Tommy (https://wokeisok.com) and our 3D Trump mask, his crown courtesy of last week's Doonsbury comic strip.
For the sake of a different a perspective yesterday I spoke to a friend who has an Iranian Christian wife. They are thrilled that the US is attacking Iran, feeling it's long overdue considering the lives of many to most people in Iran not religious Muslims. It pains me to think of the extreme limits placed on women in several countries in the middle east, and the thousands of protesters murdered in the past year by the Iranian authorities.
In the meantime thousands of US military personnel are currently being deployed adding to thousands already in the middle east. In one sense if may be just a bluff by the Trump administration, but once they have these troops there I have little doubt but they'll be putting them into harms way. Trump's war in Iran is already extremely unpopular here and abroad, and so will become even less popular once hundreds or thousands of US soldiers are killed and wounded. I don't in any way trust Trump, Hegseth and company to do right by our troops.
Regarding the holdup with funding for ICE that's unfortunately tied in to funding for FEMA and TSA, I have no understanding of how Trump and his MAGA crowd can deny that ICE and border patrol officers should be held to the same standards as any other law enforcement officer in the country, to stand unmasked, identifiable, and held accountable for their actions.
Wishing for better,
Barry Rothstein
I send out a weekly email of these. If you'd like to be included, please go to the contact page and send me an email.
