Christmas Tree in May
Hello Friends,
Back in December or January a friend gave me a seedling that grew into this plant. I shot it as a phantogram with frame sides suspended a few inches above the tops of the planting pots. It was shot with a Fuji W3 and processed in StereoPhoto Maker and Photoshop. The width of this image is approximately 22 inches.
A week ago I hung it upside down to dry, and today I trimmed it. If you're not familiar with the species, it's cannabis. I don't know the specific strain, but it's extremely sticky.
If you'd like this file in LR(above)RL(below) format email me back. I'm inclined to start offering this in general.
In last week's image-of-the-week email I asked people to reply and "just say hi", and I was happy to get around thirty replies. Some just said hi and several provided some great comments and stories. Much thanks to all who responded. A few told me my emails go to their junk box. Unfortunately I don't know how to keep that from happening.
This week the Trump administration in cahouts with his Department of Defense accepted a very pricy airplane from the government of Qatar. Aside from accepting such a gift being unconstitutional, it's a white elephant, will cost us an insane amount of our tax dollars to re-fit, and then to operate. I pray it'll long be an albatross around the necks of Trump's republican enablers.
The US House of Representatives just voted in favor of the "Big Beautiful Bill" whose beauty seems to stem from effectively taking away government benefits from poor people, who probably could use some help, and give those savings and even more to rich people, who are already doing OK.
The truly Brilliant part of this bill is the timing ... people won't start getting hurt ... the cuts won't go into effect ... until after the mid-term elections ... after we've voted in our next congress. Some won't go into effect until Trump is out of office. Play now, pay later!
So far it's only passed the House. The Senate will be a tougher climb. Some republican senators SAY they don't want cuts to medicaid that will cost many of their constituents their health insurance. Others SAY they're concerned about the trillions of dollars this will add to our deficit, that this is unacceptable.
This won't happen fast, but it's time to act. I'd strongly recommend and ask that you email or try to phone your representatives in congress. It only takes a few minutes to find their email address and write a short note. And as a reward you'll know you did something.
Regards,
Barry Rothstein
I send out a weekly email of these. If you'd like to be included, please go to the contact page and send me an email.
