Princess Flower
Hello Friends,
Per an online search of this image, ... "The image provided appears to show the flower buds of a Tibouchina, commonly known as the princess flower or glory bush. These buds are known for their vibrant pink-red coloration and grow on plants with green foliage. Tibouchina buds emerge as a rich pink color and open to large, showy, royal purple flowers, typically with five petals and purple stamens. The leaves of the plant are dark green, velvety, and have several prominent longitudinal veins. The branches can also have a reddish hue with fine hairs."
I took this shot in Sherman Library & Gardens in Newport Beach last spring. It appeals to me in the way that it appears that the flower is reaching its arms out in greeting or perhaps supplication.
Another week has gone by with its horrors in the news. Throughout the country ICE has been trying to buy up large warehouse spaces with the intent of turning them into Trump prisons for warehousing the numerous immigrants they're abducting. On a positive note as communities discover the plans for immigrant concentration camps to be built in their locality, there's been consistent pushback from residents and local officials saying no, we don't want and won't have those here.
All the polls and recent special election results show that a large majority of people are turning away from Trump and MAGA policies. Trump and his people will continue to do everything they can to hang onto power, but as more people come to understand what Trump and MAGA policies are doing to our country, their power is slowly but surely slipping away.
Wishing for better,
Barry Rothstein
