John Hart
John Hart is professor emeritus of Atmospheric Science at the University of Colorado. He studied physics at Amherst College and obtained a PhD. in Meteorology and Oceanography at M.I.T. in 1970. After a long career in (2D) wildlife photography he took up stereo in 1999. His main interests now focus on exploring the unseen with the full immersion and extra revelation of stereoscopy, like imaging microscopic crystals and biological samples in 3D, converting Hubble Telescope images to stereoscopic views using suggestions from physical and chemical astrophysical computer models, and capturing temporally challenging events by ultra-high-speed and time-lapse 3D photography. He continues to pursue rock climbing, kayaking, and canyoning, which provide great opportunities for outdoor photography. He maintains two websites www.crystalcanyons.net , and www.stereo3dgallery.com , where samples of his efforts, as well as those of other accomplished stereographers, may be seen.
